About PLD Linux

Unlike other big distributions, there is no commercial support behind PLD Linux. The developer community consists of various enthusiasts who wish to donate their time and knowledge for the common good of PLD Linux. There is no specific ideology behind PLD-Linux, we just want to have a fast, stable and flexible environment to work in. See the features of this project for more information.

Short History

PLD Linux started in 1998 as a package repository for another distribution. It soon grew enough to become a self sustaining distribution and has acted as one for the past couple of years. Currently it is one of the most active open source projects in the world and provides a constant flow of feedback to the rest of the FLOSS world.

PLD is presented on Linux distro timeline as well.
