Unlike other big distributions, there is no commercial support behind PLD Linux. The developer community consists of various enthusiast who wish to donate their time and work for common good. There is no any ideology behind us, we want just have fast, stable and flexible environment for work. See fetaures of this project.
PLD started in 1998 as a package repository for RedHat Linux. It soon grew enough, to become a self sustaining distribution and acts as one for the past couple of years. Currently it's one of the most active open source projects in the world and provides a constant flow of feedback to the rest of the FLOSS world.
